چکیده

Consider a received signal consisting of noise and an unknown wave-form that arrives at a sensor through both a direct path and an attenuated and delayed specular path. We show that a commonly-used frequency-domain model for such a signal is valid essentially only under the assumption that the waveform that underwent multipath propagation is band-limited. Furthermore, we derive suucient conditions for the afore-mentioned model to be identiiable from second-order statistics (i.e., its parameters can be uniquely determined from the spectral density of the received signal). We also show that in the frequently considered case of a white waveform, neither the attenuation coeecient, nor the waveform power, nor the noise power can be unambiguously determined.

Identifiability of Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Models with Covariance Restrictions

This article is concerned with identification problem of parameters of Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Models with emphasis on structural constraints, so that the number of observable variables is equal to the number of exogenous variables. We derived a set of identifiability conditions and suggested a procedure for a thorough analysis of identification at each point in the parameters sp...

PARALIND-based identifiability results for parameter estimation via uniform linear array

This article applies PARAllel profiles with LINear Dependencies (PARALIND) model to analyze identifiability of parameter estimation in the presence of incoherent multipath via uniform linear array (ULA). New identifiability results are derived based on the uniqueness property of PARALIND model and structure property of ULA. With the strong properties of trilinear model, the proposed identifiabi...

Identifiability results for blind beamforming in incoherent multipath with small delay spread

Several explicit identifiability results are derived for deterministic blind beamforming in incoherent multipath with small delay spread. For example, it is shown that if the sum of spatial and fractional sampling diversities exceeds two times the total number of paths, then identifiability can be guaranteed even for one symbol snapshot. The tools come from the theory of low-rank three-way arra...

Optimization Capabilities of LMS and SMI Algorithm for Smart Antenna Systems (RESEARCH NOTE)

In the present paper convergence characteristics of Sample matrix Inversion (SMI) and Least Mean Square (LMS) adaptive beam-forming algorithms (ABFA) are compared for a Smart Antenna System (SAS) in a multipath environment. SAS are employed at base stations for radiating narrow beams at the desired mobile users. The ABFA are incorporated in the digital signal processors for adjusting the weight...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Array calibration in the presence of multipath

We present an algorithm for the calibration of sensor arrays in the presence of multipath. The algorithm is based on two sets of calibration data obtained from two angularly separated transmitting points. We show the similarity between the calibration problem and blind identification of SIMO systems and analyze the identifiability of the problem. Simulation results demonstrating the performance...
